Hello, my name is Alaina Mauck. I grew up in a large family and have always valued education. I graduated from High School with my Associate of Science degree and am currently pursuing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I have always enjoyed working with youth, and have spent time teaching Sunday school as well as the youth of 4-H. Last winter, I began working at Summit, and this year I’m excited to be returning as an Assistant Kindergarten teacher. The best part of this job is getting to know all the wonderful children—thank you for sharing them with me!
Hello everyone! My name is Lisa Rustad and I am so excited to be the kindergarten teacher at Summit Christian Academy! I have an associate degree in early childhood education and a bachelor’s degree in social sciences and education from Ashford University. I believe that young children learn best through experiential and hands-on activities. I want my classroom to be a joyful experience where all children can learn, grow, and look forward to school! Kindergarten is my favorite age to teach because I love how curious, enthusiastic, and excited they are about learning and the world around them!
I'm a graduate of Concordia University, Chicago, where I earned my elementary education degree and teaching license, along with additional training in Bible studies and Christian education for my Lutheran teaching commission. I spent five wonderful years teaching 2nd grade at Faith Lutheran School in Texas, where I not only taught in the classroom but also coached sports, directed theater productions, and accompanied choirs on piano. After exploring the business world as a Human Resources Director and having the incredible privilege of homeschooling my own children for eight years, I rediscovered my love for classroom teaching while working with special needs students in DCSD. I'm thrilled to be at Summit because it perfectly combines my passion for education (SHA) with my faith (SCA), allowing me to support families who want their children to grow both academically and spiritually.
I believe mathematics is not just about numbers and formulas, but about building confidence and critical thinking skills that help students become the best versions of themselves. I've been working with mathematics students from 5th grade through college for nearly 20 years, teaching at schools like Ridgeview Classical Schools and Ascent Classical Academy, as well as several community colleges. I earned both my Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Mathematics from the University of Northern Colorado, and I'm currently pursuing my PhD in Mathematics Education at the University of Colorado, Denver. My greatest passion is helping students develop their mathematical intuition and discover their potential.
Hi! I am Joanna Mauck but most students call me “Mrs. M.” I grew up in a large family on the east coast. I completed my bachelors at the University of Maryland where I focused on music and education. I began my career playing the violin in a professional symphony as well as teaching music classes from my home such as music theory as well as individual and group music instruction. Even though I greatly enjoyed this occupation, it was challenging to keep the symphony schedule once we began raising a family. It was at this time that I decided to hang up my bow string for awhile. I did continue teaching music for the next fifteen years. In college I greatly enjoyed all the early childhood development classes that I took and knew from that moment on that that I would like to homeschool my own children. This led to eighteen years of homeschooling our five children. I especially enjoyed teaching English and Writing. Last fall was the first time in eighteen years that I found myself as no longer a home-schooling mom. I realized I missed the classroom so in January of 2025 I began teaching as a Douglas County substitute teacher. I soon found a place at Leman Academy and enjoyed teaching different ages and grades. After receiving several job offers, I continued to pray that the Lord would lead me to the right fit for our family and for my gifting. Summit literally fell into my lap and I was honored to spend the last three weeks of class with a delightful fourth grade class. I am excited to be returning to the Castle Rock location next fall teaching 5th/6th English and Transitions. Thank you for sharing your children with me!

I am a Colorado native: I received my degree in education from Metropolitan State University of Denver and a Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Colorado at Denver. I have over ten years teaching experience in public education with practice in Advanced Placement courses, genre studies and research/ technical writing. I am excited to join the Summit community; my hope is that students leave my classroom each day as more confident writers with the ability to transfer the skills we practice into real world situations.
