Senator Bill Cadman, President of the Summit Homeschool Academy non-profit board, brings a wealth of leadership experience from his distinguished career in public service and business. As a former Colorado State Senator and Senate President (2008–2016) and State Representative (2001–2008), he demonstrated a commitment to effective governance. Currently the CEO of The Schuck Initiatives, Cadman has also held roles such as Vice President of Corporate and Government Relations at Whiting Petroleum Corporation and owner of Advantage Marketing & Public Relations. A U.S. Army veteran with a B.A. in Business Administration and Marketing from California State University, he actively supports education and community initiatives through board memberships and volunteer work, including with Life Success International Academy and the Colorado Springs Therapeutic Recreational Aquatics Program.
Emilie has been working with children in schools and churches for over 32 years. She has a BS in Elementary Education and a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction. Emilie has taught grades 1, 3, 4, 6, and 8 in 3 different districts in both public and private school settings. She was a children’s pastor for 16 years and has been teaching in the school setting for 16 years. She loves kids, parents, and learning new ways to help both thrive at home and school.
Dr. Debora Scheffel earned her master's degree from the University of Denver in Special Education, her doctorate from Northwestern University (Evanston, IL) in Communicative Sciences and Disorders, and completed a post-doctoral fellowship at the University of California, San Diego, Laboratory of Human Cognition.
Dr. Scheffel has been Dean of the School of Education at Colorado Christian University since September 2013. She previously served as a member of the Colorado State Board of Education, 6th Congressional District (2010 to 2016), and now represents the 4th Congressional District. She has served as Dean of Research at the University of the Rockies in Denver and Dean of the School of Education at Jones International University in Centennial, Colorado. She was Director of the Competitive Grants and Awards office, as well as Director of the Literacy Grants and Initiatives unit at the Colorado Department of Education.
Dr. Scheffel was also the Special Assistant of Literacy to the Commissioner of Education in Colorado. She has an extensive background in assessment, serving as director of academic assessment at two universities, and has been a visiting scholar at the United States Air Force Academy.
