The Grammar stage is the first stage of learning in the trivium, considered the building block years. Students at the grammar level (kindergarten through 6th grade) use language and knowledge as foundational skills. We help students hone these skills by taking in new information, memorizing it, and reciting it through song, poetry, and chant. “Education begins with memory and imitation” (Sayers, 1947).
Cultivating wonder and a love of learning in students at this age allows for them to appreciate their education in a different and distinct way. Integration of content areas provides students with an opportunity to make connections that help them begin to build a deep core body of knowledge, rather than learning content for the sole purpose of passing a test. Students at the top end of the grammar phase (6th grade) are preparing for their transition into the logic level of the trivium.

The Singapore math method is a highly effective teaching approach originally developed by Singapore’s Ministry of Education in the 1980s for Singapore public schools.
The method has been widely adopted in various forms around the world over the past 25 years following our introduction of the curriculum to the U.S. in 1998. Singapore Dimensions has been widely adopted in classical programs, such as Hillsdale College.

At Summit Homeschool Academy, we believe in providing a collaborative education that prepares students for a successful future. Our homeschool enrichment includes collaboratively teaching Math and English with parents, curriculum and Teachers Guides, training and pacing guides.
What we don't provide: In homeschool, parents are the primary educators. Parents provide additional courses that we do not teach to complete a full education. They also provide grades. Suggested courses include science, history, literature, art, music, foreign language, etc.
Our highly qualified teachers, small class sizes, parent training, and classical curriculum are designed so that that families are well-equipped and supported in classically educating their child. As an academic collaborative, we teach 2 lessons a week and you teach 2-3 lessons a week in English and Math.
